Lots of names<\/h3>\n

If you are a rueda dancer, you have probably danced or at least seen this figure (video below). This rueda figure is among the figures with most names. You might have heard it called paseala, paseala p’abajo, daiquiri, adentro y afuera, vamos abajo,<\/em> or even something else. We put this video teaser out on YouTube<\/a>, and quickly we got close to 10 suggestions: adentro y afuera, camina abacho, exh\u00edbela, men\u00e9ala, paseala, amague, <\/em>and abajo con salsa<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The figure itself is quite common, and it is also in the Ruedastandard<\/a>. However, we have changed the name on the Ruedastandard in the past, because it was very difficult to agree on one specific name for the figure. First we called vamos abajo<\/em>, then paseala p’abajo<\/em>, and then adentro y afuera<\/em>. We are not in the busniness of claiming that specific names are wrong.<\/p>\n

But we are interested in what Cuban rueda dancers consider to be the most common names.<\/strong>
So we invited several of them, discussed this, and recorded it.<\/p>\n

We ended up understanding that Cubans consider the most common names to be: aguajea<\/strong><\/em>, paseala<\/em> <\/strong>and adentro y afuera<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

We also looked at whether you always move backwards in this figure, or not. Our conlusion was that it is most common to use one call for the back-and-forth movement, and then to add „para abajo<\/em>“ if you intend to move backward in addition.
So we made a separat video for aguajea para abajo \/ <\/em>paseala para abajo \/<\/em>adentro y afuera para abajo<\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

And finally we looked at the variation of calling „tarro<\/em>“ when moving backward like this.
And we ended up with another video for that combination: aguajea para abajo \/ <\/em>paseala para abajo \/ <\/em>adentro y afuera para abajo <\/em><\/strong>><\/em> tarro.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n
