adentro y afuera / paseala
= in and out
This figure has many names: adentro y afuera, paseala p’abajo, paseala, aguajea, vamos abajo, and more.
The Ruedastandard used to name this figure vamos abajo, because this is common some places in Cuba. But it turned out to be confusing whether the command was refering to going straight or from side to side while going backwards. So it was changed to adentro y afuera. Another common name for this figure is paseala p’abajo, or paseala, if you don’t move backward but dance in place. The problem with the paseala name on this figure (in cloased position) is that it is quite difficult to distinguish it from the figure paseala in open position.
