Cuban-born percussionist Eduardo Cedeño Rodríguez affectionately known as “El Moro,” settled in Norway in 2003. Before landing in Norway, he had already spent seven years as a professional choir singer in Havana before dedicating himself full-time to congas and timbales. A formative spell with Cuban troubadour Polito Ibáñez sharpened his fusion instincts.

Since 2007 Cedeño has been the rhythmic cornerstone of Hovedøen Social Club, the Oslo band that turns vintage Norwegian pop into salsa, mambo and timba—an unlikely recipe that has filled dance floors all over Norway for more than sixteen years.

Beyond Hovedøen he is a sought-after guest: he has appeared repeatedly with Scandinavian legend Lill Lindfors, crooner-poet Jan Eggum—including the symphonic album En natt for bi with KORK —and the versatile Det Norske Blåseensemble, and Margaret Berger among many others.
