In Rueda de Casino, “Flaco” is a command used to compress or narrow the circle. It addresses situations where the circle has become too large, creating excessive distance between couples, which can hinder smooth partner changes. The caller uses “Flaco” to direct all dancers to take a long, synchronized step towards the center of the circle on the 7th beat. This brings the couples closer together, tightening the formation.
The opposite command is “Gordo,” which signals the circle to widen back out, creating more space between dancers.
