Sácala is one of the classic and most recognized figures in Rueda de Casino. The name translates to “take her out”, and while it looks similar to exhíbela, it has its own characteristic flavor. Sácala is most often danced from a open position and is usually led with the right hand. Unlike exhíbela, the leader remains facing the circle throughout the move, keeping the connection strong within the rueda structure.
The follower is guided smoothly into a turn, while the leader maintains stability and presence, emphasizing the idea of “taking her out” of closed hold into the flow of the circle. A natural continuation from sácala is also to resolve with a Dile Que No, keeping the rueda rhythm fluid and connected.
The essence of sácala is its compactness and its rooted connection to the circle, making it feel tight and well-integrated into the group dynamic.
Please note: there will always be local variations. Our video library is developed in close collaboration with Cuban instructors and Rueda enthusiasts from around the world.
